CJIS Compliant ID Solutions
The mission of CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Services) is "to equip law enforcement, national security, and intelligence community partners with the criminal justice information they need to protect the United States while preserving civil liberties."
What is CJIS?
The Criminal Justice Information Services Division (CJIS) is a division of the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The CJIS was established in February 1992 and it is the largest division in the FBI.
A joint program of the FBI, State Identification Bureaus, and CJIS Systems Agency, the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy has created policies that govern the security precautions that must be taken to protect sensitive information (eg. fingerprints and criminal background checks) gathered by local, state, and federal criminal justice and law enforcement agencies.
CJIS Policies control how that information may be accessed. The CJIS Security Policy contains specific requirements for wireless networking, remote access, encryption, certification of cryptographic modules, and minimum key lengths.
